The past quarter has been very busy for WVLDI student groups! Chapters were approved for Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, bringing the total number of active student chapters to 17 across the country. In October, students joined WVLDI board members for a webinar to discuss career paths, the importance of women in leadership, and advice for taking on leadership roles. Representatives from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Georgia organized a webinar with Dr. Samantha Morello for November titled The Science of Who We Are: A Data-Driven Approach to Work, Life, and the Gender Effect in Veterinary Medicine. During this webinar, Dr. Morello presented her data exploring how gender and race inform our professional experiences and the strategies for improving diversity to adapt to a changing workforce. Finally, student groups submitted grant applications to the WVLDI board in November. A total of $1750 was awarded across five student chapters to help fund projects advancing WVLDI’s mission! Congratulations all!
