This year we have gained many new board members. However, there have been a fair amount that have also transitioned to new exciting opportunities. We would like to recognize specifically three women that have been exceptionally inspirational to many of us that have moved on to leadership avenues in our profession.

Dr. Stacy Pritt, Dr. Lori Teller and Dr. Karen Bradley, founding members of WVLDI, all completed their leadership terms with the WVLDI executive board and were recognized for their instrumental work at the Veterinary Leadership Conference in Chicago. They each move on to new and exciting opportunities, and continue to support the work of WVLDI.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) House of Delegates elected Dr. Stacy L. Pritt of Rowlett, Texas, as the organization’s vice president. Dr. Pritt, who will serve as a voting member of the AVMA Board of Directors, will travel to all veterinary schools and provide career outreach to as many students as possible especially touching on different career pathways veterinary medicine can take you.  Dr. Pritt served as the previous WVLDI president as well as one of the founding members of WVLDI.

Another founding WVLDI board member, Dr. Lori Teller, (also from the great state of Texas) is serving as the AVMA District 8 Director.  District 8 is one of the largest districts for the AVMA organization so to be nominated to that position is a major accomplishment for Dr. Teller.

And lastly, Dr. Karen Bradley, the creator of WVLDI and first president of WVLDI, has been elected to the AVMA Board of Directors. She is a small animal practice owner and surgeon, and began her six-year term as District 1 representative in August 2016 during the AVMA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

To tell you we wouldn’t have WVLDI without these three women would be an understatement. These leaders have not only created WVLDI but they continue to inspire many veterinary colleagues and students to continue pursuing opportunities to lead the veterinary profession.
